The Institute for the Promotion of Culture and Traffic Safety, safety.GURU Institute, could no longer stand idly by and watch the frequent accidents near the Trnava railway crossing, so they decided to do something.
After the first step, which was to paint the Trnava stop in Dubrava, and the second, where a fun workshop was created on the path between the railway crossing and Resnik, this week they built an Educational Trail towards the Borongaj campus.

On June 9, 2022, HŽ Infrastructure marked the 14th International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) at the Trnava railway crossing in Zagreb.
Every year, the international ILCAD campaign addresses a specific target audience, and this year it is dedicated to a “vulnerable group of people” who want to be warned about the dangers that threaten when crossing the railway line without authorization and without care or staying near the railway line.
This event was organized in cooperation with the competent police station and the non-profit organization safety.guru INSTITUT and the preventive and educational action “Octopus with an attitude – Steps that make a difference” related to the dangers of crossing the railway line at trespassing.

INITIATIVE TO PRESERVE THE CLEANLINESS OF THE PIONEERS
Like many parks, Grad mladih / Pionirac has a problem of pollution from the cigarette butts of careless smokers. The same people could now wait to pollute the environment if they decide to participate in the initiative “Jer Čiko čuva park” which decided to solve the problem in a great way.
Namely, instead of the chikos ending up on the floor, the idea is that they end up in one of the Chiko wise heads / large transparent ashtrays, which are placed in a visible and acceptable place.

A PLAY FOR ALL GENERATIONS – “OCAT I SIN” CELEBRATES ITS 100TH PERFORMANCE
Along with the play, viewers will also be introduced to the project “Obotnica sa stavu” (Octopus with an Attitude), which informs and educates about the dangers of using mobile phones in traffic.
The use of mobile phones and the increasing number of mobile applications have become an everyday occurrence, without which modern life is unthinkable. In addition to the positive effects that mobile phones bring, there are also a number of negative consequences. According to statistics, mobile phones are the 3rd killer in traffic in the Republic of Croatia. 90% of drivers, 50% of pedestrians and 33% of cyclists use mobile phones in traffic. In combination with headphones, mobile phones distract traffic participants, which results in an increased number of injured and fatal people, especially young people.
12 WINNERS OF THE CROATIAN GRAND SAFETY AWARD
During the Croatian Safety Days, which took place in Opatija over three days in October, the Croatian Association of Security Managers awarded the Grand Safety Award in a total of 12 categories. This year, 48 legal and natural persons were nominated for it. The Croatian Grand Safety Award, as a special recognition to people for exceptional deeds and activities in all areas of safety carried out during the past year, has been awarded by CASM for the ninth year in a row.
GLOBAL ROAD SAFETY WEEK AND THE CAMPAIGN “ARE THERE ANY AWAKE? CHOOSE LIFE”
As part of the celebration of the fifth Global Road Safety Week, the Institute for the Promotion of Culture and Traffic Safety held a preventive campaign “Are There Any Awake? Choose Life” at the trespassing along the Vrapčak stream today.
Crossing the trespassing Oranice – Vrapčak for pedestrians and cyclists who live there is an everyday occurrence that, given the density of trains passing through, is somewhat reminiscent of Russian roulette.
According to spokesperson Marela Sopta, the Institute for the Promotion of Culture and Traffic Safety did not choose this trespassing by the Vrapčak stream by chance. On average, one person crosses the tracks there every 20 seconds, while a train passes by on average every 3 minutes. What is even more devastating is the fact that in 13% of cases, pedestrians use mobile devices and headphones at the crossing, and in 10% of cases they also carry bicycles.
The Secretary General of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Nikolina Brnjac, spoke about the crossing and the Global Road Safety Week at the preventive action.
Safety is the most important factor in traffic. One second of inattention can lead to catastrophic consequences and that is why, today, in the Global Road Safety Week, we must support such actions that educate people who live along the railway. This mainly concerns children who should learn this from their parents but also in schools.
The problem of trespassing along the Vrapčak stream has been re-emerged and a concrete solution is awaited. Leaflets, warnings and advice on this topic will not have much effect if pedestrians and cyclists do not understand that the train is always faster and therefore always dangerous, not through the fault of the train driver or any third party on the railway. Inattention and relaxed reactions simply do not pay off.
